GCFC Meets with Belgium’s Special Envoy to Advance Climate Finance Dialogue Ahead of COP30

DATE 21 May 2025 High-level meeting in Abu Dhabi explores joint priorities on climate finance, COP30 preparations, and early coordination for the 2026 UN Water Conference.

GCFC met today with Ambassador Willem van de Voorde, Belgium’s Special Envoy for Climate and Environment, to strengthen international collaboration ahead of COP30.

The discussion, held in Abu Dhabi, touched on shared priorities across:
• Global Finance for Climate Change and innovative solutions to involve the private sector
• Preparations for COP30 and its main deliverables
• Early dialogue on the 2026 UN Water Conference which will be co-hosted by the UAE

Participants included:

– Mr. Joren Selleslaghs , Deputy Head of Mission and Counselor for Political Affairs
– Ms. Kenza Glendinning , Intern at the Embassy of Belgium for the United Arab Emirates
